KIPP Volunteering

KIPP School is preparing under-served students for college. My friend Marisa teaches an art class there every other Saturday and had me come in as a guest lecturer. The amazingly well behaved students were open to hearing about my journey around the world and making a career as a photographer. It was a challenge for me to actually speak about myself and my work and then engage the students for three different classes, but definitely a rewarding challenge.

  1. Brett,

Thank you so much for coming in to speak with the class! Your lesson about using our skills and talents to share the love and beauty we see in the world was inspiring for me as a teacher. I also know that *some* of them got the rule of thirds. But I also realized that I can keep reinforcing that concept in future classes! So we’ll get them there. :) Thanks again for sharing your work and your time and for having the bravery to speak about yourself. You have an important gift and message. We appreciate you.
